This is a pretty random list that Kyle Haffner said would help me in third year. I know it jumps a lot but I thought I would share it directly instead of trying to edit it and possibly messing something up. ~ Danielle

Know Gastroc release techniques: (article in Japma and F&A international)
Vulpius= V cut in gastroc
Silverskoid= at highest of gastroc
Bauman= gastrosoleus recession
Strayer=straight across

Print presby manual. Read it at least twice!

Read Foot and Ankle international each mnth, JFAS 6 times/ yr, Read residency review manual and Hershy manual (a lil dif from presby), Foot and ankle clinics (reading to learn), H drive dpm 09 under extrnshp literature

Know ortho journal references as well as podiatry

Know tendon healing cascade!
Bone healing cascade!
Wound healing cascade!
(Trauma clssfctns are not very useful but people are impressed w/ u knowing it)

Present in concise precise manner ONLY PERTINENTS

Know differential diagnosis for HEAL PAIN!!!!

Describe a wound-
circumfrnce?, probe to bone? sprfcl? undermining or tunneling?
Hyperkertnic rim?
base= fibrotic, granular, sluff
Describe it in percent 25% fibrotic
Drainage is- serous, serous sanguinus, purulent, hematogenous,

Always have bandage scissors!

Obviously don't be late, don't complain. Build a good relationship with clinicians so they know they can count on you.
